Al Nathan - aka Luther Crenshaw has been music teacher in the Utica School District, since 1973. He also attended Berklee School of Music and worked the Boston music scene throughout the late 60s and 70s. He returned to the central NY in the early 80s and now plays frequently in Utica, Syracuse, and the Adirondacks. Al also owns and operates Nathans Bakery in Old Forge, where people come to eat bagels, drink coffee and listen to blues music (this served as the inspiration for one of the songs on BlueStreaks new CD - "Blues and Black Coffee").
BlueStreak is Al Nathan (keyboards and vocals), John Hutson (guitar and vocals), Darryl Mattison (drums, percussion and vocal ideas) and Dan Porter (bass and vocals).
John Hutson, guitarist, singer, and songwriter, is a veteran cabaret and club performer who can be heard playing electric guitar most weekends somewhere in Central New York. His diverse and eclectic career has taken him across the country, from Indiana to Boston to California and finally to central NY.
In 2005, after engineering and producing 25+ CD projects for other artists at his recording studio, he released his own effort, I Cant Remember This Song. Count the Tears from that CD is featured on the MVBS compilation. John also appears on Square Little Mama by Tom Townsley, and seven of the cuts on the CD were recorded in his studio.
Hutson has worked with Al Nathan and BlueStreak on a regular basis for the past two years, and he played both guitar and bass on their latest recording, as well as doing all the engineering and production.
Darryl Mattison has a long history of playing drums and percussion, from roadwork in the 60s and 70s with the likes of the Chessmen, Bad Dog NY, and the Solid Oak Band, to more recent stints with Puttin On the Ritz, Seven Turns, King Kool and his Royal Blues, and Out of the Blue. A versatile drummer and percussionist, Darryl has frequently been called to fill in for such acts as Lil Georgie and the Shufflin Hungarians, the Paul Angerosa Band, Blueprints, and the Tom Healey Band.
Mattison appears on three of the cuts on the MVBS CD, Sleepin With the Reaper by Al Nathan and BlueStreak, I Dont Wanna Be Your Dog by John Savage, and The End by Don Paul Way.
